Winter Fashion Shoot

“Cali meets the South.” That was one of our Instagram hashtags when Jennifer Tori of J. Tori Photography was with us in Georgia for Imaging USA ’13 and our collaborative Winter Fashion Shoot. Thinking about it now, “the South meets Cali” probably would have been a better hashtag! Of course we had to introduce So-Cal gal J. Tori to fried green tomatoes and other distinctly southern experiences, but what she brought to us was even better: her super fun personality. Ridiculously awesome makeup. And the opportunity for creative collaboration. If you’re like us, you probably have more ideas than you do time. You probably also know that personal work could not only take your portfolio, but also your inspiration and enthusiasm, to the next level. And yes, time can limit these opportunities, but one motivator that could encourage you to MAKE time for the work you dream of doing is pretty simple: another amazing photographer!! Nike says it best: Just Do It!
Knowing J. Tori would be here for Imaging, we asked her to partner with us at our Winter Fashion Shoot with our Seniors Ignite Models finalists. Of course, nothing says winter more than fur, so we began planning outfits around custom furs we borrowed for the shoot! Jenni did incredible makeup to complete each look, and we headed out to a location that has a little more texture and points of interest that other options would have during the winter months. The fashion and makeup made it clear that this shoot was different from a normal senior session, but we also made it a point to make this experience a BIG deal. All four of our Seniors Ignite finalists are such talented models and genuine seniors to work with, and we wanted each one of them to have an unforgettable time! We rented a hotel room at the location for the day so the models could change and have makeup done there, provided lunch, and of course filmed the entire shoot! So many of our models, clients, and potential clients were intrigued by the fact that an award-winning photographer from California was here to shoot with their friends. This kind of collaboration can only add to the marketing power of personal work!
After the success and thrill of the winter shoot, we were even more excited to collaborate and connect with more photographers and artists at the Seniors Ignite Event. Being around so many talented professionals was extremely inspiring, and we were able to create some incredible spring campaign material! If you weren’t in San Diego for this year’s event, make it a point to connect creatively with fellow professionals, do some personal work, and make 2013 the year of inspiration, portfolio building, and unforgettable experiences. Just do it!
