Seniors Ignite maintains a strict no refund policy for the event.  Since there is limited space available we want to make sure all of our attendees are “all-in” before they commit to attending.  We want you to be 100% in before you hit the payment link. Why? Because we know what a tremendous value this is for senior photographers and we want 100% commitment from you. Seniors Ignite studios take their senior business seriously, and we are committed to creating and being a part of an inspiring, action-oriented learning event. The Seniors Ignite Model Program

The Seniors Ignite Model program was created to help set your studio apart from other photographers. It was designed to create buzz for your studio and an unparalleled experience for your seniors.

Our goal is to help you create a ‘blue ocean’ studio – one that has no direct competition. For that reason, the Seniors Ignite Model Program is not a one-size-fits-all strategy, rather it is meant to be tailored to your studio’s specific needs.

This is YEAR ROUND marketing for your studio.  The marketing and publicity will continue all year long with your model images, winners, and exclusive opportunities. The Seniors Ignite Model program opens up many creative marketing opportunities to work with your models throughout the year, giving you an edge over other photographers.

Model  Shoots

Models will be photographed on location by several of the leading senior portrait photographers in the nation, as well as by their winning photographer.

Models will be portraying the upcoming fashion trends on location, which will provide unique and fashion-forward marketing materials for attending studios.  Winning studios will receive all images photographed of their model at the event, and may present these images to their model in the format they choose.

Winning models will also be featured in videos for upcoming senior fashion trends, and showcased year round on the Seniors Ignite Models website and Facebook page.

Event FAQ

How much does the event cost?

There early bird special pricing is $599 per person until May 2014. The standard price is $799 per attendee.

How do I book my rooms?

Rooms will be available to book at Loews Coronado Bay Resort in San Diego, CA, at the SPECIAL Seniors Ignite Event rate of $189 per night. There is a $25 resort fee per day that covers: high speed internet access in guest rooms, fitness center access, sporting facilities or equipment, shuttle service, newspaper, phone calls, in-room coffee. If you are driving or renting a car there is a $20 per day parking fee.

This rate is good for the duration of the event as well as 3 days pre/post event. You will need to use this link to get the special room rate.

How much is it for additional attendees?

The $799 price is per each person attending, or $599 per person attending with the early bird special. There is no additional charge for non-attending spouses, or for makeup artists who are working as makeup artists at the event model shoots. Makeup artists will not have access to event activities. Only full paid attendees are allowed to photograph at the event shoots.

If I want to bring my studio assistant is it full price for them too?

Yes it is full price for each person attending the event. You can bring your studio employee or spouse as a non-attendee guest for no additional cost. Non-attending guests are not able to attend the official event or shoots.

Is there a payment plan available?

Yes, you can select the payment plan option here.

Which airport do I fly into?

San Diego International Airport (SAN).

What transportation options are available from the airport to the hotel?

Cabs are readily available to take you to the hotel the San Diego International Airport. There are also car rentals available.

What is the hotel address?

The Loews Coronado Bay Resort is located at 4000 Coronado Bay Rd, San Diego, CA 92118

When should I arrive?

The event officially begins Sunday morning February 15th. Registration and event check-in will open that day. Model Shoots with Official photographers start Saturday.

You are welcome to arrive earlier in the weekend and enjoy the resort if you like. Past attendees have enjoyed arriving earlier to get settled in, relaxed and meeting others before the event starts. The discounted room rate is good for 3 days pre/post event.

Photographers with winning models will need to arrive no later than Friday afternoon on February 13th for model fittings and to prep for the official model shoots on Saturday the 15th.

When will the event be over?

The event ends Tuesday, February 17th at 10PM.

You are welcome to stay later and enjoy the resort if you like. Past attendees have liked having a couple of days off after 3 days of intense learning and connecting. It’s a great way to plan for all the things you have learned as well. The discounted room rate is good for 3 days pre/post event.

Will there be time to socialize and network with the other attendees?

This event is designed to utilize all the time available and fill it with teaching, learning and networking.  With the intimate atmosphere you will have plenty of time to get to know the other photographers and get that creative rejuvenation that comes from events like these!

Will the event be broadcast live online as well?

The event will not be broadcast online for the 2015 event. The 2015 event features small breakout groups and even more hands-on learning and shooting. For that reason and others, the event will not be broadcast in any way. The only way to attend the event is in person.

If I want to carpool or room with other attendees, how can I do this?

As we get closer to the event we will create a private Facebook group for you to meet and network with the other attendees.  This is the best way to organize sharing rooms & carpooling.

If I don’t have a model winner will I be able to photograph during the event?

Yes!  We will have several styled fashion shoots setup throughout the event with an official photographer assigned to each model.  During these shoots you are able to ask the lead photographer questions and learn from them as they help you shoot portfolio images with the models.

What should I bring?

A notebook, pen, laptop, Wacom tablet, camera, lenses, flashes, reflectors and whatever you need to create portfolio images in San Diego.

Transferring Your Event Registration

If you are unable to attend the event, your registration may be transferred privately to another party prior to November 1, 2014. Please notify Seniors Ignite prior to November 1, 2014 if you wish to transfer your registration. Transfers after this will not be valid. Seniors Ignite is not responsible for selling your seat if you are unable to attend the event.

Transferring Your Seniors Ignite Model Studio Registration

Model studio registration may not be transferred to another studio or photographer for any reason.

How much does it cost to be a Seniors Ignite Models studio?

The fee is $200 and includes unlimited model entries from your studio, a featured listing on the Seniors Ignite Model site and marketing materials to promote the program.

How do I become a participating studio in the Seniors Ignite Model Program?

The first step to becoming an exclusive photographer is to register for the upcoming 2015 event and select the option to be a Seniors Ignite Model Studio.

Do I have to attend the event if I want to be a participating studio on the Seniors Ignite Model site?

Yes, you are required to attend the event in order to participate in the model program. The program incentives and benefits for your models are all tied to attending the event.

Am I guaranteed to have a winning model?

We cannot guarantee that studios will have a winner. However Seniors Ignite will have a pre-event or post-event time where you can bring your OWN model to photograph. Although not part of the official event, this will allow photographers without a winning model to bring a model, perhaps as part of their own studio promotion. It also gives you a chance to work creatively with other photographers outside of the event.

When are model submissions due by and when are winners announced?

Studios may register as a Seniors Ignite Model studio until September 1st, 2014.

Model submissions are due by: Oct 30 2014

Model Finalists will be announced: November, 14 2014

Model Winners will be announced: November, 21 2014

How do I promote the model program at my studio?

Seniors Ignite will provide you with the Seniors Ignite Model Guide, promotional posters and comp card templates to help you promote Seniors Ignite Models at your studio. The program can be customized to fit your studios’s specific marketing needs, and the Model Guide provides different ideas for implementing the program. All materials will be provided immediately once  payment for the event has been received.

What do my models receive?

National Seniors Ignite Model Winners will receive the experience of modeling at the national Seniors Ignite 2015 Event at The Loews Coronado Bat in San Diego. Models will be photographed on location by several of the leading senior portrait photographers in the nation, as well as by their winning photographer. Models will be showcasing the upcoming fashion trends on location, which will provide unique and fashion forward marketing materials for attending studios. Winning studios will receive all images photographed of their model at the event, and may present these images to their model in the format they choose. Winning models will also be featured in videos for upcoming senior fashion trends, and showcased year round on both the Seniors Ignite Models website and social media.

What does the $200 Seniors Ignite Models Fee Cover?

  • Makeup artists
  • Hair stylists
  • Transportation of models and photographers to shooting locations
  • Shooting location fees – most locations require payment to use
  • Equipment and shooter expenses
  • Food and drink for the models including the model pizza party
  • Clothing & Makeup –  some fashions are provided
  • Administrative costs – website management, judging and winner selection, contest management, securing locations, materials and other costs associated with managing the Seniors Ignite Model program.

If I have a winning model who pays for the expenses?

Studios with a national model winner will be responsible for travel and lodging expenses for their winning models (Seniors Ignite will not cover winning model expenses).  In your model guide are suggestions for offering a model session or model entry collection to your seniors, the money for which would go towards your winning model’s expenses.  Studios are not allowed to directly pass on the costs to their winning model.  If you would like to participate in the Seniors Ignite Models program, but are unable to cover the costs for a winning model, simply let us know during the application process.  You will still be able to benefit from the marketing of the program, and be eligible for a national Seniors Ignite Model finalist, but will not be eligible to have a winning model from your studio.  This can assist you in building excitement for the Seniors Ignite Models program in the future!  Although you are not required to have a winning model in order to attend the event, you are required to attend the event in order to participate in the Seniors Ignite Models program.

How many winning models will there be?

Up to 20 national seniors ignite model winners will be selected from the entrants from participating model studios

Do I need to enter a model in order to attend the event?

You do not need to enter a model in order to attend the event. You will be able to photograph some of the winning models at the event.

If I don’t have a model winner will I be able to photograph during the event?

Yes!  We will have several styled fashion shoots setup throughout the event with an official photographer assigned to each model.  During these shoots you are able to ask the lead photographer questions and learn from them as they help you shoot portfolio images with the models.

Who selects the winning models?

Finalists will be chosen by the Independent Model Selection Committee and studios will be notified no later than Friday, November 14th, 2015.  Winners will be selected – and winning studios notified – no later than Friday, November 21st, 2014. See the 2104 judges here.
