James Bond Portfolio Shoot

I pull inspiration for videos and shoots from a variety of sources.  From Free People, Urban Outfitters, and American Eagle videos, the Francesca’s, Bldg 25, and Fashion Photography blogs, to fashion and glamour magazines.  These sources have been huge in helping me grow as a creative and influencing my brand and my look.  Another big influence, and one that is also a passion of mine, is music.  I love listening to music and have a huge collection of it.  From classical to pop, I listen to it all depending on my mood.

One of the latest artists that I’ve become a huge fan of, and was the source of inspiration for a creative shoot I recently did, is Lana Del Rey.  She has a smooth and sultry voice that is described as a modern day Marilyn Monroe.  Her debut album, “Born to Die,” is phenomenal and was what I listened to for several weeks straight.  One song in particular has a really cool vibe, and is what helped get my mind rolling, to come up with the “bond portfolio” shoot.

While prepping for this past spring’s Seniors Ignite event in Palm Springs, I took advantage of one of the awesome locations we had secured and started planning a creative shoot.  It was to be inspired by the Lana Del Rey song, and also by the original James Bond film Dr. No.  I knew that a good photographer friend of ours, Cherie Phelps, would be bringing an awesome model with her to the event in Palm Springs to work on her modeling portfolio.  So Cherie and I started talking and came up with a theme for our shoot that was styled after the vintage look, fitting in with the decor at the location, and the classic “Bond Girl,” look.

Here is the mood board we created for the shoot.

Once the vision for the shoot was set, we sent the mood board over to our model, Toni Marie.  Toni and her mom were super excited about the concept and started working on finding wardrobe for the shoot.  It was great seeing everything fall into place, and all the prep work come together.  We were thrilled with how the shoot turned out!  Toni Marie and the other model, Dylan, were great to work with and up for anything we threw their way.

Check out the video we shot while working on Toni Marie’s modeling portfolio!
